A Post’s Link to the Nation’s Defense

ABSTRACT:
Many activities of SAME Posts are social or educational and many times are not "Dedicated to the Nation’s Defense." At the New York City Post the Readiness Plan became the Post’s link to the nation’s defense and became an important tool in reacting to the attack on New York City on September 11, 2001. By activation of the Post’s Readiness Committee and use of the Plan, the Post was able to be on alert and standing by for the North Atlantic Division Commander.

This presentation will describe the preparation of the readiness plan and how it was used on 9/11/01
